We combined two trips into one week: Minnesota and Colorado. Our first couple days were in St. Joseph, MN, which carries personal significance for my wife and her family and, in turn, for me as well. We then spent a couple days exploring Minneapolis for the first time. The second half of our trip started in Boulder, CO, which is one of the many places we didn’t get to explore fully during our honeymoon last year. We then moved south to Castle Rock for our friends’ wedding, before rounding out the trip with a proper exploration of Denver.
Day 1: BWI -> MSP -> St. Joseph
Day 2: St. Joseph -> Minneapolis
Day 3: Minneapolis
Day 4: MSP -> DEN -> Boulder
Day 5: Boulder
Day 6: Boulder -> Castle Rock
Day 7: Devil’s Head Lookout, wedding at Larkspur
Day 8: Denver
Day 9: DEN -> BWI
Day 1-4: Minnesota
St. John’s University
There is a lake on campus with beautiful trails.
College of Saint Benedict, closely related to St. John’s.
We also got to explore Minneapolis.
My favorite part might have been dining at Owamni, a Native American restaurant. I’ve never experienced anything like it anywhere else.
The Sculpture Garden was definitely a highlight.
Day 5-9: Colorado
We started Boulder with meeting all the neighborhood cats.
Wonderland Lake
The Flatirons, which they very creatively named one through five.
Do these students appreciate what a beautiful place they live in? Also, trying to run before having acclimated to the altitude was rough.
On our way down to Castle Rock, we hit up Red Rock Amphitheatre.
… and Idaho Springs too!
Day of the wedding, we hiked Devil’s Head Trail with some friends.
The day after the wedding, we headed to Denver.
We visited the Denver Botanic Gardens.
We stayed near the River North Arts District.
Though it was short, this was a very meaningful trip for us. The wedding was wonderful, and we got to reconnect with friends who’ve moved away from Baltimore. It was also great to do a proper exploration of Denver and Boulder, which we did not have time to do during our last trip out to Colorado.
