We spent a week in the Canadian Rockies. In addition to stunning views in every direction, this area offers some amazing hikes and adventures, including white water rafting and via ferrata.
Day 0: BWI -> ATL -> YYC -> Canmore, AB
Day 1: Icefields Parkway, Parker Ridge Trail
Day 2: White water rafting in Golden, BC, Takakkaw Falls
Day 3: Johnston Canyon, Lake Minnewanka
Day 4: Via ferrata at Mt. Norquay
Day 5: Lake Louise
Day 6: Canmore -> YYC -> MSP -> BWI
There are many beautiful and very accessible views like this along the Icefields Parkway
You can see impressive rock formations, towering waterfalls, and beautiful glaciers, all from Parker Ridge trail
The region’s many lakes are popular with tourists
Imagine going grocery shopping on a normal evening and seeing this
Johnston Canyon
Lake Minnewanka
Climbing Mt. Norquay
I had to overcome my fear of heights and climb with cables, clips, and harness to get this shot
Lake Louise, maybe my favorite shot from this trip
Though I’d always wanted to visit Banff for the hiking and the views, I also got to try via ferrata and white water rafting for the first time. It was awe-inspiring being in the mountains and alpine forests. One could probably spend years exploring Banff/Yoho/Jasper, and I hope to come back for more!
