We visited Japan for two weeks for sightseeing and for my friend’s wedding.
Day 1-2: IAD -> HND
Day 2-5: Tokyo
Day 6-13: Tokyo -> Kyoto
Day 13: Kyoto -> Kanazawa (unplanned!)
Day 14: Kanazawa -> Tokyo
Day 15: HND -> IAD
We flew on ANA 101, which is the 787-9 with the Star Wars livery.
Sensou-ji, near our hotel in Asakusa. You can see the Tokyo Skytree in the background. I’ve always loved the juxtaposition of the old with the new.
We visited a lot of shrines and temples. This one was cat- and love-themed.
I wonder where people go to enjoy a nice drive. The streets in the city are so crowded and narrow.
The food was probably my favorite part. We went to this vegan restaurant whose owner dresses up in a monkey suit.
Even the train food was awesome.
A Japan trip would not be complete without browsing through their hobby stores. I ended up buying a DDG1000 model, which are quite hard to find in the states.
Ueno Park
Kyoto
One of the many beautiful gardens we visited.
Senbon Torii
This hike is very special to me because it is where we decided that we would get married!
Our train to Hakone was canceled due to a railway fire, so we ended up making an impromptu stop in Kanazawa instead. This is from a light show at Kanazawa Castle.
There were so many more things we did during our two weeks in Japan. A cycling tour of Tokyo, a Capybara cafe, a paper making class, long walks, saw my aunt, and so many shrines and temples. We also dressed up in kimonos for my friends’ wedding, which was an incredibly beautiful and joyous occasion. A truly memorable trip.
