We visited Tupper Lake, NY to see family and witness the solar eclipse of April 8, 2024. The clouds parted just in time as the sky plunged into darkness for just over three minutes of totality. Amid the awe-inspiring show, I was able to snap a few photographs.
A completely obscured sun.
A composite of two exposures. Taken from near a school that was hosting a viewing event.
Taken at the end of totality, as the sun beams begin peaking out from beneath the moon.
In the days leading up to the eclipse, we explored the natural beauty of the surrounding lakes and mountains.

It was still snowing in April!
This was my first time experiencing a total solar eclipse, something I will always remember. There won’t be another one in North America for another twenty years. I am extremely grateful to have been able to witness this event, and above all for the great time I enjoyed with family and for their hospitality.
